Love the content but frustrated with the app

Update: I received a nice reply from the PBS Video Team although they were unable to help without more information from me. In the meantime, however, I am no longer experiencing the glitch. Not sure what happened, but it’s all good now. I really enjoy most of the PBS programming and I’m happy to be a Passport member. I use my Apple TV to watch. However, there have been a couple of times recently when I’m watching a program and another program’s audio starts running in the background simultaneously with the audio of the program I’m watching. The only way I’m able to get rid of the second audio is to delete and reinstall the app. That’s not a reasonable process because it’s too cumbersome. A quick search of their support issues did not find a different solution. I hope they fix this bug soon!

Love PBS app but….

The app is great, could use some improvement but overall ok. My one complaint is the sound. I have crank the volume up a lot to hear anything. It’s not my TV or service provider. It’s only the PBS app. In response to the developer, I use an Apple TV 4K device. Software is up to date. This is through a Samsung 4K smart tv. Sound seems dull. I use the Apple TV because the PBS app, and a couple others, are not available through Samsung.

Please fix scrolling on Apple TV

When diving into a category like Shows > Culture then scrolling through the collection, the image tiles for the shows always reload, constantly, in every category. This is jarring and confusing. Please fix!

Episodes removed

When somebody from PBS responds to your review it sure would be nice if they actually answered your concern! Certain Nova episodes, for example, that were available to stream from the PBS app are no longer available, they don’t even show up as a selection. However, Amazon PRIME has those episodes! Now PBS is removing episodes of many shows and selling them to PRIME. So even if you’ve paid for Passport you can no longer watch some of your favorite episodes. No more support from me!

Doesn’t work well

The way to select shows is bad. (Bad on the website too — it doesn’t remember where you were in the mile long scroll.) The app doesn’t remember which show you were watching let alone where in the program you were. I’d love to support PBS by watching more on this than Amazon or Netflix, but the user interface is so poor I don’t. Probably will not renew.

Quartz Core Framework

ImageKit provides user interface support for browsing, editing, and saving images, showing slideshows, and browsing and previewing Core Image filters. AVFoundation
The AV Foundation framework provides an Objective-C interface for managing and playing audio-visual media in iOS and OS X applications.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Core Graphics
The Core Graphics framework is based on the Quartz advanced drawing engine. It provides low-level, lightweight 2D rendering with unmatched output fidelity. You use this framework to handle path-based drawing, transformations, color management, offscreen rendering, patterns, gradients and shadings, image data management, image creation, and image masking, as well as PDF document creation, display, and parsing.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
