Greedy

This app charges you a fee to listen to your personal music collection offline. You read that right. If you put music on their server and then attempt to download it onto your mobile phone so that you can listen to it offline, you have to PAY them, monthly. I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to pay a company to listen to my own music. That’s insane. Whoever came up with that idea ought to be fired, severance rescinded. This business model is a great way to dissuade younger generations, of which I am a member, from using this service. Super greedy. Total scam. Use another platform.

Great idea, poor execution

This could be so good. There’s a lot it gets right. But it requires my Mac to be on for any of the iOS or the tv apps to work. Why? Infuse for Apple TV doesn’t, and it works great. I don’t want to have to be running a server from my Mac just to watch movies on my Apple TV. Also it has real problems keeping the library updated. Sort by date never worked, so it was hard to see what was new. And other bugs meant I deleted it and moved to infuse, which works better. They’d be better cutting out some of the pointless features like Tidal integration and making sure the basic app just worked, streaming your local movie library, without messing up a lot. Also it should be able to work without needing my Mac to be on all the time.

Pushing American Far-Right Political / Racism Content

Plex used to be software that let you manage your home theatre content. Content you already owned. They have investors now that aren’t happy with that business model so they have started offering their own streaming service. The problem is it’s streaming content no one else wants. One of the live tv channels they give you is for an American alt-right conspiracy network. This is a network that pushes racist, homophobic, and transphobic content. This is a network that encouraged the coup attempt at the American Capitol building.
