The Institution offers four levels of membership and three types of professional registration.

Engineering Policy Statements
This section provides up-to-date information on a wide range of engineering subjects across the themes of education, energy, environment and transport.
Each policy summary, in no more than 300 words, outlines the subject, highlights key points, and presents the Institution’s views and recommendations. Users can also request a full copy of the policy statement by email or in hard copy.
Engineering Heritage Awards
Established in 1984, the Institution’s Engineering Heritage Awards (EHA) highlight and recognise the valuable contribution engineering and engineers have made to the world in which we live.
With over 65 historic sites and artefacts recognised by the EHA scheme over the last 28 years, users can review each award, the EHA plaque citation, and directions to visit the site.
Users can also request more information on the awards, including a hardcopy of the EHA book and application form to submit an artefact or site for consideration to win an award.
