Embarrassing

This app is embarrassing. I wish I had a dollar for each time it crashed so I could retire tomorrow.

Took forever to set up

Forever in a loop of crashing while setting up, mostly getting stuck at and failing while unable to distinguish WiFi networks (2.4ghz only). Toooo many useless steps to set up. App is stuck in the Stone Age!

Will not work without location enabled

This app will not work without location enabled. They claim it is to access network settings on your phone. My other smart home apps for smart switches and smart plugs from other brands do not require location services to function. Why is Wemo requiring this? They will not let bypass this requirement and use the app without location enabled. They need to fix the app so that it doesn’t require location services.

Unstable

I bought two Wemo plugs and they are completely unstable! I have a Lutron system but needed two more plugs. These are supposed to work with Alexa and they were cheaper but now I see why. Every time I have to reboot my Router, at least one of these devices disappears and goes off line. When I go through the whole rediscovery process and it comes back... the other device disappears... and so it continues until I reset them once again. Drives me crazy!!!

Somwthing has gone wrong

For the first year the mini switches have worked flawless, the rules work great, they picked up my WiFi no problem. Since the update of 1.22 and 1.24 things have gone wrong. I have turned the rules off but the device still acts on them. The app takes forever to load and the devices are mostly undetected now. Nothing has changed with the device placement or my WiFi so I’m assuming it is issues with the app and update... currently looking for other brands similar..

I had a minor issue setting it up. But now that I’m familiar with it, Wemo Mini Smart Plug is a very nice product to have. : )
