Description:

Come on in, the water’s fine! Beach Selecta gives you water quality data for nearly 500 designated bathing waters during the bathing season (May to September) in England and Wales, based on data from the Environment Agency website. Also included is data on car parks, tides and weather and lots more useful information.

The bathing water quality is measured against the standards in the current European Bathing Water Directive:

The most recent sample results are published on the Environment Agency website and through this application.

IMPORTANT: Due to the time needed for laboratory analysis, the results shown may represent samples taken up to four weeks prior to today's date. The date of the latest sample is displayed on the application.

Almost good but has a major flaw

A good app but with inaccurate information. I was stood on Sandbanks Beach in Dorset, it show Pooles Branksome Chime beach as approx 2 miles away. But showed the beach I was actually stood on as 123 miles away ? I emailed the developers to point out the bug. Automated reply basically saying we're very busy don't expect a reply. Tut Tut poor way to communicate with your customer base. Bad business practice.

Great update

With these changes, Mr Ambassador, you're spoiling us. Very good update with decent info on each beach. UI is nice and simple to use too. Looking forward to taking it for a spin this summer.

Brilliant idea

Fantastic for planning where to go, however app is limited by delay in time from sampling to results on app, but some info is better than no info! also missing beaches such as chapel porth, Cornwall. Overall great though.

ASIHTTPRequest
ASIHTTPRequest is an easy to use wrapper around the CFNetwork API that makes some of the more tedious aspects of communicating with web servers easier. It is written in Objective-C and works in both Mac OS X and iPhone applications
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Google Data APIs (gdata)
The Google Data APIs (GData) provide a simple protocol for reading and writing data on the web. Each of the following Google services provides a Google data API: Blogger Calendar Calendar Resource Contacts Content API for Shopping Documents List Email Audit Email Settings Google Analytics Google Apps Provisioning Google Webmaster Tools Picasa Web Albums Spreadsheets YouTube
MessageUI
The Message UI framework provides specialized view controllers for presenting standard composition interfaces for email and SMS (Short Messaging Service) text messages. Use these interfaces to add message delivery capabilities without requiring the user to leave your app.
MWPhotoBrowser
A simple iOS photo browser with optional grid view, captions and selections. MWPhotoBrowser can display one or more images by providing either UIImage objects, or URLs to files, web images or library assets. The photo browser handles the downloading and caching of photos from the web seamlessly. Photos can be zoomed and panned, and optional (customisable) captions can be displayed. The browser can also be used to allow the user to select one or more photos using either the grid or main image view.
SDWebImage
Asynchronous image downloader with cache support with an UIImageView category.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
ZYActivity
Easier UIActivity inheritance.
