Archdiocese Of Chicago
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago was established as a diocese in 1843 and as an archdiocese in 1880. It serves more than 2.3 million Catholics in Cook and Lake counties in Northeastern Illinois, a geographic area of 1411 square miles. The archdiocese is divided into six vicariates and 31 deaneries. This local church is headed by the Most Rev. Blase Joseph Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, assisted by six episcopal vicars, each responsible for a vicariate (region).

This app was created to celebrate the history of the Archdiocese and showcase the beauty of its parishes. Users can scroll through brief parish descriptions and hundreds of color photographs featuring Catholic Church interiors, exteriors and special treasures.

The text and photos of parishes in Chicago and suburban Cook and Lake counties included in this app were originally published in 2006 in a book titled Archdiocese of Chicago, A Journey of Faith.

NOTE TO USERS: This app contains over 1,000 photos and is approximately 160 MB. It will only download with a Wi-Fi connection.

Beautiful App

The app does a great job showcasing the beautiful and varied places of worship in Chicago and its environs. My only pet peeve which I hope gets fixed soon is the incomplete and cut off biographies of the saints which seem to be leaving out content in many cases.

Beautiful!

Beautifully done, beautifully written and beautifully photographed. Enjoyed visiting and learning about Chicago Catholic churches. Did not initially discover the searchable index, but once found - navigating was easy.
