The paper is the successor of the Daily Worker, which was originally established in 1930 as the Communist Party of Great Britain official paper. However it converted to a reader-owned co-operative in 1945 and has operated on this basis ever since. It specialises in activist and labour movement journalism, as well as political and internationalist-oriented world news.
