The Regional Portal KLinform - Kaiserslautern and Westpfalz is operated by the KLinform KG based in Kaiserslautern. The KLinform KG was founded on 27 June 2003 by former KLinform project staff as a spin-off of the former consortium KLinform from the University of Kaiserslautern out. The KLinform KG is registered in the commercial register in 2528 Kai Kaiserslautern under registration number HR A.

For the idea and the concept of the project, the consortium KLinform KLinform was awarded the grand prize of the then first organized Multimedia price competition of Rhineland-Palatinate in the year 1999th

Support of the project KLinform which was conducted from 01.01.2000 to 01.04.2003 at the University of Kaiserslautern, which was - now defunct - Consortium KLinform, which until the end of the project 22 public and private consortium belonged.

The former KLinform project team, which last consisted of eleven employees / inside, has developed a prototype of the innovative regional portal KLinform during the project phase, which was launched on 23.08.2002 on the internet. The KLinform KG has taken over the project results to the original Portal prototype and the portal in the aftermath fully developed technology and content, supplemented and expanded into an attractive regional portal.
